I create decorative, hand made, statues of Virgins and Saints by special order. It takes up to 10 days to create each figure. Some projects may take more time due to complexity, size and details. I learned this technique from my mother, who was a student of Alicia Valera, a Venezuelan artist that developed this technique many years ago.
I am proud of preserving this very special form of artistic expression that brings happiness and hope to my patrons.
Materials Used:
Basic unpainted ceramic hand and faces, imported from Italy, which I hand paint. Each face coloration is different.
Statues are around 13″ and 21″ tall, Wooden frame bases that stand alone for tables. Created using Fabrics which are specially treated so as to preserve the fabric. Each figurine includes a certificate of genuineness signed by me.
